Easy Banana Chocolate Chip Cookies Recipe

This simple recipe for soft and chewy Banana Chocolate Chip Cookies uses overripe bananas to enhance a cookie classic.  

INGREDIENTS

– 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour – 2 teaspoons baking powder – 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt – 2/3 cup unsalted butter, at room temp – 1/2 cup white sugar – 1/2 cup packed light brown sugar  – 2 large egg – 1 teaspoon vanilla extract  – 1 cup mashed ripe bananas (about 2 medium bananas) – 1 1/2 cups chocolate chips, chopped nuts or a mix – Large-flake sea salt, for topping (optional)

Heat the oven to 350°F. Prepare two baking sheets with parchment. Mix flour, baking powder, and salt in a medium bowl.

Mix the butter, white sugar, and brown sugar in a stand mixer with the paddle attachment for 2 minutes until light and fluffy, scraping down the sides.

Beat each egg as it is added. Combine vanilla extract and mashed bananas. Stir in the flour mixture until mixed. Scoop the dough onto the baking sheets after stirring in the chocolate chips. Sprinkle sea salt (optional).

Bake the cookies for 12–15 minutes until the edges are gently browned. After 5 minutes on the hot baking pans, remove the cookies to a rack to cool.
